The authorities have collected at least 29 sacks of money, amounting to over Tk.8,21,34305 crores , huge foreign currencies, ornaments were found in 10 charati boxes at Kishoreganj ‘s Pagla Mosque.
The historic Pagla Mosque is located on the bank of Narshundha river in Kishoreganj town.
Deputy Commissioner (DC), also District Magistrate (DM) in Kishoreganj , Fouzia Khan confirmed the matter.
The 10 donation boxes were opened on Saturday morning around 8 am after 104 days in presence , DC Fouzia Khan, SP Md. Hasan Chowdhury BPM, ADC(General) Rubel Mahmud, ADM Rahamat, Additional SP (Crime&Ops) Al- Amin Hossein and agencies members.
More than 325; people including 250; madrasa students and 70 Rupali Bank employees joined the counting process.
On August,17 this year, the Pagla Mosque gets tk. 7.22,13046 Crores, huge ornaments and foreign currencies.
ADM Mizabe Rahmat, Additional SP(crime& Ops.) Al-Amin Hossein Sadar UNO, Magistrate Mehadi Hasan , Army members and Rupali Bank Assistant General Manager(AGM) Rafiqul Islam have taken part in the counting on Saturday.
The money received from the donation boxes of the mosque is spent on various mosques, madrasas and orphanages in the district, as well as in various social welfare activities.
Pagla Mosque managing committee president, also Deputy Commissioner (DC) Fouzia Khan told the New Nation that, an initiative has been taken to build an international standard Islamic Complex in the Pagla Mosque and its construction cost has initially been estimated at Tk 115 crore. Around 60,000 people will be able to pray together at the Islamic Complex, according to the sources at the mosque.
The donation money is being used for regular expenses of the mosque and it is being deposited in Rupali Bank, DC added.
