Pacific Denims halts production again following gas supply disruption
Staff reporter:
Pacific Denims Ltd has once more suspended operations at its factory in the Chattogram Export Processing Zone (EPZ) after its gas supply was cut off earlier today, disrupting production activities.
This marks the second major shutdown within a year for the denim exporter, which had previously halted production in mid-2024 due to a prolonged gas shortage before resuming operations later that year.
In a disclosure posted on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) website, the company said it is actively communicating with the authorities to restore gas supply “within the shortest possible time.” Pacific Denims has already submitted a formal request to the Titas Gas office seeking reconnection to resume production.
Despite the temporary setback, investor sentiment appeared positive as the company’s shares gained 2 percent to close at Tk 5 on the DSE following the announcement.
