Outgoing Sri Lankan High Commissioner in Dhaka Sarath K. Weragoda on Monday paid a call on Speaker Dr Shirin Sharmin Chaudhury at the latter’s office here. During the meeting, they discussed different bilateral issues including expansion of trade, business and investment between the two countries, a parliament secretariat release said. They also put emphasis on further strengthening bilateral relations between the two countries.
Describing Sri Lanka as the long time friend of Bangladesh, the speaker hoped that the relations between the two Asian nations and the parliament as well would be further strengthened in the days to come.
The Sri Lankan envoy thanked the government for extending allout cooperation while discharging his duties in Bangladesh. Expressing satisfaction over Bangladesh’s progress in different important sectors, he assured the Speaker for his country’s continued support in development initiatives of Bangladesh.
