Bangladesh Mahila Samity
A memorial meeting organised by Bangladesh Mahila Samity was held at its Ivy Rahman auditorium in the city on Saturday to pay deep homage to the noble lady on his 12th anniversary of martyrdom. In the meeting the speakers remarked that Begum Ivy Rahman who laid down her life in the August 21 carnage of 2004, would light like an eternal flame in the politics of Bangladesh. “She embraced the death of a hero,” they said. The speakers said though Begum Ivy Rahman, a victim of heinous grenade attack of August 21, 2004, was a politician of high stature, she used to do politics along with common workers and as a successful leader for women’s cause, she always in the forefront of any movement. She will remain alive among the people of the country forever, they added. The programme was addressed, among others, by Awami League (AL) Presidium member and Deputy Leader of the House (Parliament) Syeda Sajeda Chowdhury, another member of AL presidium Advocate Sahara Khatun, AL Advisory Council member Kazi Akram Uddin Ahmed, and litterateur Selina Hossain.
