Vice Chancellor of Dhaka University (DU) Dr Akhtaruzzaman on Saturday urged students and alumni of the university to play effective role in creating mass awareness of the environment to keep ecological balance and make the country as well as the globe safe. He made the remarks while addressing a reunion programme as the chief guest organised by Dhaka University Friends Alliance (DUFA), a platform of the students of 1995-96 academic sessions, at the auditorium of Teacher-Student Centre (TSC). DU VC said, elaborate programmes, including greening the campus, making it clean, organising international conference, seminar and symposium and bringing all the administrative and academic activities of the university under automated system, have been chalked out to mark the ‘Mujib Year’. Vice Chancellor of Sher-e-Bangla Agricultural University Prof. Dr. Kamal Uddin Ahmed was also present at the event presided over by DUPA president Akm Enayet Hossain.
Bangladesh Navy Family Welfare Association (BNFWA)
Dhaka unit distributed warm clothes among poor and distressed people in Mirpur area in the capital on Sunday. BNFWA President and wife of Bangladesh Navy chief Dr Afroza Aurangzeb, who was present as the chief guest, distributed the clothes among the people in Sailors Colony at Mirpur-14.BNFWA has organized the programme with its own fund to reduce the sufferings of the cold-hit people, including unprivileged children, disabled, older men and women. During the event, Dr Afroza inquired after the health of the disadvantaged children, elderly women and men and assured them of always being with them. Chairman of BNFWA Dhaka branch and BN ladies club and members of the executive committee were also present.
Jatiya Party (JaPa)
Jatiya Party (JaPa) Chairman and Deputy Leader of the opposition in the parliament GM Quader on Saturday said earning money should not be the main purpose to do politics in the country. “It is not right to do politics for earning money only… It should not be the main objective of doing politics. Considering the interest of the country and its people, JaPa will earn their (people) confidence by launching different programmes,” he said.He made the remarks when party leaders from Kishoreganj, Madaripur, Bhairab and Sylhet came to the party office in Banani area here this afternoon to greet the newly elected chairman and secretary general of the party.JaPa Secretary General and Opposition Chief Whip in the Parliament Moshiur Rahman Ranga, its Co-Chairman Ziauddin Ahmed Bablu and party leader and lawmaker Adelur Rahman also spoke on the occasion. GM Quader directed his party leaders and workers to stay beside people of the country taking programmes against corruption and irregularities.
