The Ittefaq building, which housed the offices of “The Daily Ittefaq” newspaper, was burned down on March 25, 1971, during the brutal crackdown known as “Operation Searchlight” carried out by the Pakistani military in Dhaka, East Pakistan (now Bangladesh).
