Opening embassies will not ensure peace with Israel

In a changing political scenario in the Middle East, Israel’s Foreign Minister Yair Lapid reached United Arab Emirates Tuesday on his first state visit as an Israeli minister. The two nations are trying to bridge differences in line with their historic diplomatic accord reached in the wake of recent Israeli-Palestinian conflict. An Israeli embassy in Abu Dhabi was opened Tuesday and a consulate in Dubai will open Wednesday (today). He will also sign an agreement on economic cooperation with the UAE.
The Western diplomatic circles see this event a ‘progress’ to defuse tensions among the Middle Eastern countries regarding Israel. During US president Trump’s era, Israel managed to develop diplomatic relations with the UAE, Bahrain, Morocco and Sudan, which were once hostile to Israel and hadn’t any diplomatic relations due to Israel’s hostility towards Palestinians.
We see no easing relations without implementing the two-state solution by recognising Palestine as a Muslim state.
The result may not be so welcoming for the US administration, but what Israel wants is ‘peace’ with all its neighbours. Israel’s foreign minister said: “Israel wants peace with its neighbours. With all its neighbours. We aren’t going anywhere. The Middle East is our home. We’re here to stay. We call on all the countries of the region to recognise that. And to come talk to us”.
This statement is arrogant. Israel comitting genocide denies the existence of Palestine. New Israeli settlements have been made on the land of Palestine. Bombing Muslims in Palestine is a regular event for Israel. Now the foreign minister is boastfully asking neighbouring countries to come to them.
What the Israeli leaders do not understand is that the US is not interested in peace in Israel. It is being maintained for disturbing peace in the Middle East. The problem for Israel’s leaders is they never had a state and do not know how to maintain statehood without being puppet of America.

Initiative for peace has to come from the new leaders of Israel. It must think for itself. Either Israel and Palestine will live as two states or both will be obliterated.

We expect sensible policy from the new US President Biden not to antagonise all the pro-American allies among Middle Eastern countries for Israel’s mad dream. No military power brings peace, it will only contribute to search for weapons. Palestine is in existence, Israel has come to stay. Israel has to adapt itself to stay.
