One gets 10yrs imprisonment in gold smuggling case

A court in Chattogram has ordered 10 years
rigorous imprisonment
in a case of rescue of 82 gold bars from a passenger named Mohammad Hossain at Shah Amanat International Airport.
Shariful Alam Bhuiyan, the fourth Additional Metropolitan Sessions Judge and Special Tribunal-1, passed the verdict yesterday.
Mohammad Hossain, son of Ahmedur Rahman of Gahira Dobashirhat area of Anwara upazila in south Chattogram.
The court bench assistant Omar Fuad said that the court has sentenced Mohammad Hossain to five years in jail , and a fine of Tk20,000 for another five years imprisonment.
The accused is absconding on bail. According to the documents of the case, Mohammad Hossain arrived in Chattogram at Shah Amanat International Airport in Chattogram on the morning of October 30, 2014 from Dubai.
Before leaving the airport, he announced that he had no tariffable consignment. After completing the immigration, he was searched the body and recovered 82 gold bars from the inside of the two cloth belt while crossing the customs green channel. The weight of gold bar is 9kg 560 grams.
