A 45-year-man was killed and 30 people were injured when a bus overturned on Jashore -Magura highway in front of Kodalia Government Primary School in Jashore Sadar upazila on Wednesday morning.
The deceased was identified as Basu Karmakar, 45, son of Madhu Karmakar of Gopaldi area under Madhukhali upazila in Faridpur.
Locals said the accident occurred when the Magura-bound local bus lost its control and overturned on the highway around 7:30 am, leaving at least 30 passengers of the bus injured.
Among them, nine critically injured passengers were taken to Jashore General Hospital, where Basu Karmakar succumbed to his injuries.
Jashore Kotwali Police Station Officer-in-Charge Tajul Islam said that the injured passengers were sent to local hospitals with the help of locals.
The bus is in the custody of Barobazar highway police station, he added.
