The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) on Tuesday reported one death from Covid-19.
The DGHS data showed eight new Covid-19 cases in the country over the 24-hour period from 8:00 am Monday to 8:00 am Tuesday.
According to a DGHS statement, “One more Covid-19-related death was recorded in the past 24 hours, raising the total number of fatalities from the virus to 25 since January.”
During this time, 234 samples were tested, resulting in a positivity rate of 3.42 percent, the statement added.
The total number of Covid-19 deaths in Bangladesh since the pandemic began in 2020 now stands at 29,524.
The first case of coronavirus in the country was detected on March 8, 2020, and the first death occurred ten days later, on March 18 of the same year.
Among the remaining cases, 98 were reported in Chattogram division, 36 in Dhaka division (excluding the capital), 55 in Dhaka South City Corporation (DSCC), and 38 in Dhaka North City Corporation (DNCC). Additionally, 18 were hospitalized in Khulna division, 11 in Mymensingh, 48 in Rajshahi, and one in Sylhet division.
