Dengue Deadlock: One death, 466 hospitalisations

Bangladesh has recorded one death from dengue fever, while 466 people have been hospitalised nationwide over the past 24 hours.
The latest fatality took the death toll from the Aedes mosquito-borne disease to 105 this year, and hospital admissions reached 26,278, reports bdnews24.com.
The Directorate General of Health Services’ Sunday bulletin said the patient who died was undergoing treatment at Dhaka’s Mugda Medical College Hospital. He was a man aged between 21 and 25 years. The highest number of dengue deaths this year, 41, was recorded in July. The DGHS reported 22 deaths this month.
In addition, 19 people died in June, 10 in January, three in February, seven in April, and three in May.
July saw the highest number of dengue hospitalisations this year, with 10,684 admissions. Another 5,398 patients were admitted this month.
Moreover, 1,161 patients were admitted to the hospital in January, 374 in February, 336 in March, 701 in April, and 1,773 in May.
The highest number of new patients in the past 24 hours, 133, was in the two city corporations of Dhaka.
In addition, 58 patients were admitted in Dhaka Division, eight in Mymensingh, 60 in Chattogram, 47 in Khulna, 66 in Rajshahi, five in Rangpur, and 83 in Barishal.
Currently, 1,262 patients are undergoing treatment in different hospitals countrywide with dengue. Of them, 410 are admitted to hospitals in Dhaka, and 852 are in hospitals outside Dhaka.
Bangladesh saw 101,211 hospitalisations from dengue in 2024, with 575 deaths, which is the third-highest annual caseload and the second-highest death toll on record.
