Entertainment Report :
At the beginning of winter, several event organizers announced half a dozen concerts featuring both local and international artists. Alongside popular Bangladeshi bands and singers, artists from India and Pakistan were also included in the lineup.
However, due to security concerns and the lack of administrative permission, these concerts are being canceled one after another. Already, three concerts have been postponed, and there is rising concern among music fans about the fate of the remaining three.
Pakistani singer Ali Azmat was scheduled to perform in Dhaka on November 14. Titled “Legends Live in Dhaka,” the concert was also supposed to feature Nagar Baul James. Ali Azmat arrived in Dhaka three days earlier to join the concert. However, on the morning of the event, the organizers announced that it had been postponed.
Shortly after, the concert of the popular Pakistani band Jal was postponed as well. Organized by Stage Co, the event was scheduled to take place on November 28 at Swadesh Arena on the 300 Feet road in the capital. Titled “Sound of Soul,” the concert was also set to include performances by two Bangladeshi bands, Warfaze and Level Five.
Most recently, the concert of Indian singer Anuv Jain was canceled due to security concerns. The event was scheduled for December 12 at Courtside, Madani Avenue. However, the organizer, HypNation, postponed it on November 25.
Meanwhile, Pakistani band Kaavish and singer Atif Aslam are expected to perform in Bangladesh in the coming weeks. On December 5, Kaavish is scheduled to perform at “Wave Fest: Feel the Winter,” alongside Bangladeshi bands Shironamhin and Meghdol at Courtside, Madani Avenue. The show is organized by Prime Wave Communication.
Atif Aslam is also set to perform in Dhaka on December 13 in a concert organized by Main Stage. Additionally, he is expected to perform at a charity show titled “Echoes of Revolution 2.0.” Rumors have been circulating on social media that the show might be canceled as the organizers have reportedly not yet received venue approval. However, Main Stage recently confirmed that Atif Aslam’s concert will take place as scheduled.
