Earlier on Saturday, leaders from BNP, Jamaat-e-Islami, and the National Citizen Party held separate meetings with Prof Yunus.
During these engagements, Chief Adviser Prof Muhammad Yunus reiterated his firm stance on the timing of the next general election, emphasizing that the current government will not extend its tenure beyond June next year.
“Prof Yunus is a man of his word. He has set a clear cut-off time and will not go beyond it,” Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam told reporters, referring to the likely election window between December 2025 and June 2026.
Alam noted that this message was clearly conveyed to BNP leaders during their meeting with the Chief Adviser.
When asked further, Alam confirmed that the Chief Adviser consistently mentioned the timeline of December this year to June 30 next year, underlining his commitment to holding the election within that period.
“The Chief Adviser remains resolute. June 30 is a definite deadline,” Alam reiterated.
He added that political leaders who attended the meetings expressed their trust in the Chief Adviser’s leadership, and all three sessions were conducted in a cordial and constructive atmosphere.
