Bandarban district Awami League (AL) General Secretary and municipality mayor Mohammad Islam Baby passed away around 6:30am on Saturday at Chattogram Evercare hospital. He was 69.
He left behind his wife, two sons and a host of family, friends and well wishers to mourn his death.
Family sources said he was admitted to the hospital on April 13 with fever and other health complications. As his condition worsened, he was taken to the ICU and given life support early Saturday.
Mohammad Islam Baby, the two-time elected mayor of Bandarban Municipality, was also the president of the District Sports Association.
