Deputy Commissioner of Sylhet Mohammad Sher Mahbub Murad said that the July mass uprising has brought an opportunity to fulfill the dream of building a discrimination-free Bangladesh. We have to utilize that opportunity. We will always be united to build a Bangladesh without discrimination. We have to protest against injustice from our respective positions. He also said that it is possible to build an independent Bangladesh with a joint effort in the spirit of July-24.
On Saturday (July 26) at 10 am, at the District Shilpakala Academy at Shahi Eidgah TV Gate in the city, he said the above words while speaking as the chief guest at the oath-taking, discussion meeting and cultural program for the formation of society in July revival organized by the Sylhet District Administration and District Social Service Office.
Sylhet District Social Service Department Deputy Director Md. Abdur Rafiq presided over the program and under the direction of Disability Affairs Officer Siddharth Shankar Roy, Director of Sylhet Divisional Social Service Department Mohammad Shahidul Islam, Medical Officer of Civil Surgeon’s Office Dr. Swapnil, Additional Superintendent of Police Hasibul Benazir, Deputy Director of Sylhet Women’s Affairs Department Shahina Akhter, Child Affairs Officer of Sylhet District Shishu Academy Saidur Rahman Bhuiyan. Shabiprobi Coordinator Julykanya Tanjina Begum spoke.
At the beginning of the programme, which began with the recitation of the Holy Quran and the reading of the Gita, a minute’s silence was observed in memory of those who died on July 24 and those who died in the plane crash at Milestone School and College in Uttara, Dhaka. Earlier, at the July revival held at the Osamani Memorial Auditorium in Dhaka, Women and Child Affairs Advisor Sharmin S. Murshid recited the oath in millions of voices to build society. Guests, officials, employees and students of Sylhet joined it virtually. Finally, a memorable cultural programme was held.
