Gono Odhikar Parishad President Nurul Haque Nur is scheduled to leave for Singapore on Monday to undergo advanced medical treatment.
According to a press release issued by the party on Sunday, Nur will reach the airport at 6am before boarding his flight.
He had been receiving treatment for the past 18 days-first at Dhaka Medical College Hospital and later at a private hospital in Dhaka, the statement mentioned.
It added that doctors advised sending him abroad for further treatment, a move decided jointly by his family and party leaders, though Nur was initially hesitant.
On the night of 29 August, a clash erupted in Kakrail between activists of Gono Odhikar Parishad and the Jatiyo Party.
As the confrontation intensified, police and army personnel intervened with baton charges to disperse the crowd. Nur sustained injuries during the law enforcers’ action.
He suffered wounds to his head and nose, Dhaka Medical College Hospital Director Brig Gen Md Asaduzzaman confirmed the next day.
