Nurul Haque Nur, President of Gano Odhikar Parishad, has called for the arrest of those responsible for the recent murders in Gopalganj within the next seven days.

He made these remarks during a discussion meeting held on Sunday, September 15, at the party’s office, addressing the issue of unemployment in the country.

Nur claimed that while Sheikh Hasina may have fled the country, her allies, described as “friends of fascists,” remain active and are responsible for the killings in Gopalganj. He stressed that those involved must be brought to justice immediately.

He further highlighted the importance of the interim government’s success, stating, “The future of the country depends on this government’s performance.

If they succeed, it will benefit the people. If they fail, the people will suffer. We are supporting the government and will continue to do so.”

Referring to recent attacks in Gopalganj, Nur expressed his dismay, especially regarding the assault on the army, calling it “a shame for us.” He warned that failure by the administration to act could lead to more severe incidents.

Nur also criticized the appointment of district commissioners (DCs) with affiliations to the Awami League, suggesting that reforming the country with such individuals in place would be challenging. He encouraged the youth to take responsibility for the country’s future.

At the same meeting, party General Secretary Md. Rashed Khan echoed Nur’s sentiments, stating that true state reform would not be possible while Awami League beneficiaries continue to hold influential positions.

He highlighted the chaotic nature of the current administration, citing issues such as one individual being assigned multiple ministries.Bangladesh Jubo Odhikar Parishad’s Organizing Secretary, Muntazul Islam, presented a seven-point proposal to address unemployment, which includes constitutional recognition and implementation of non-discriminatory employment practices, annual publication of an unemployment survey report, prioritizing the formulation and implementation of vocational education, eliminating application fees, illegal recommendations, and age limitations for all jobs, establishing government-run training centers and strengthening local production systems, creating an international market for local products and prioritizing self-employment for the educated and those who dropped out of school and providing international-standard training and interest-free loans for manpower export, and ensuring free employment opportunities based on merit and skills.

Other leaders, including Manjur Morshed Mamun, Nadim Hasan, Abu Hanif, Shahidul Islam Fahim, and Advocate Sarkar Nure Ershad Siddiqui, also spoke at the meeting.
