Runa Laila is a renowned singer and composer of the subcontinent. She has already crossed six decades of her musical career.
As a vocalist, she has been honoured with more than 300 awards from different countries of the world. Her journey in the world of music is still ongoing.
Acclaimed fiction writer Abdullah Al Muktadir has written a novel about this renowned singer.
The subject of the novel ‘Mayar Singhasan’ is the emergence, struggle and evolution of Runa Laila in the popular culture of Bangladesh.
The novel will be published on Runa Laila’s birthday on November 17. It is being published by Chandrabindu Prokashoni. The cover of the book was designed by Rajib Datta.
According to writer Muktadir, ‘Mayar Singhasan’, written about Runa Laila, is not just a novel; it is a journey of the human mind through music.
The feelings hidden in Runa Laila’s songs, the obsession with time, love and loneliness – all combined, the novel will take the reader to a magical world of music.
The words, filled with the author’s pen, seem to take shape in music, and the story is born from within that music.
Writer Abdullah Al Muktadir said, “Runa Laila is a popular artiste, a virtuoso performer. Her songs move the hearts of the listeners.
Whenever I hear Runa Laila’s voice, I feel like I have reached another time, where there were fewer people and more melodies.
This novel is actually the story of that journey.” In a video message, Runa Laila expressed her best wishes for the novel ‘Mayar Singhasan’.
While sharing her feelings in this regard, Runa Laila said, “The book ‘Mayar Singhasan’ was written about me. It was written for me. Everyone should read it, I hope you like it.”
