Three more people have passed away from dengue, conveying November’s total death toll to 173, the highest in 2024.
Meanwhile, 135 people died from dengue in October. The information was disclosed in a press release from the Health Department on Saturday.
It was reported that 3 people died in hospitals within the Dhaka South City Corporation area while undergoing treatment for dengue, as of 8-am on Saturday.
As per to an analysis of Health Department data, 675 people were admitted to hospitals in the last 24 hours due to dengue.
Amongst them, the highest number, 157, was admitted from the Dhaka North City Corporation area.
Furthermore, 155 people were admitted from the Dhaka South City Corporation area, , 75 from the Dhaka Division (excluding Dhaka’s 2 city corporations), 72 from Chattogram Division, 27 from Rajshahi Division , 98 from Barishal Division ,66 from Khulna Division, 18 from Mymensingh Division, and 7 from Rangpur Division hospitals.
So far this year, a total of 91,469 dengue patients have been hospitalised.
Last month, 30,879 people were hospitalised for dengue, and this month, 29,652 people have been admitted so far.
This year, the death toll from dengue has reached 488, with 251 women and 237 men among the victims. An analysis of the Health Department’s data shows that the highest numbers of dengue patients this year, 19,419, were admitted to hospitals in the Dhaka North City Corporation area.
The second highest, 16,649, were admitted in hospitals in the Dhaka Division (excluding Dhaka’s 2 city corporations), and the third highest, 16,144, were admitted in the Dhaka South City Corporation area.
Last year, Bangladesh saw the highest number of dengue cases and deaths in history, with 321,179 people infected and 1,705 deaths.
Meanwhile, the highest number of dengue-related deaths this year, 208, occurred in hospitals within the Dhaka South City Corporation area.
The second highest, 89, occurred in hospitals in the Dhaka North City Corporation area.
