Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam said that there was no uncertainty over the upcoming parliamentary election scheduled to be held in early February next year.

He asserted that all doubts surrounding the polls have now been cleared and that the political parties are taking preparation for the election.

He made the remarks on Friday while speaking at a views exchange meeting with the journalists at the Mymensingh Press Club.

“We are going to witness a real election after many years,” the Press Secretary said.

“For the last 16 years under Sheikh Hasina’s rule, we saw fake election. We have moved away from that. This time, it will be one of the best elections in our history,” he added.

Earlier, on his way through Mymensingh -Haluaghat road, he observed the election preparations taking shape at the grassroots level.

Shafiqul Alam also said that an election atmosphere is already building across the country.

“I saw posters of local leaders on my way in Haluaghat. Once the political parties start nominating their candidates in the next two-three weeks, the electoral ambiance would become even more vibrant,” he added.

He further noted that there is no major conflict among the political parties regarding the July Charter, and that most parties are proceeding with election preparations in a constructive manner.

During the event, General Secretary of Mymensingh Saiful Islam and other journalists from print and electronic media was present.
