Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin on Tuesday clarified that the recent meeting with Chief Adviser Professor Muhammad Yunus was merely a courtesy call and did not involve any discussion on the upcoming election date.
“There was no discussion on the election date. The Election Commission will announce the date and schedule in due time,” he told reporters at his office in the capital.
The CEC said the Chief Adviser inquired about the Commission’s readiness to hold a free, fair, and credible national election.
“He (the Chief Adviser) is very sincere about ensuring a neutral and credible election. Our wavelengths matched — we share the same commitment to a fair and transparent electoral process,” Nasir Uddin added.
Regarding preparations, the CEC stated, “We are fully geared up for the election.”
The meeting between the CEC and Chief Adviser took place last Thursday.
