Home Affairs Adviser Lieutenant General (retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury on Sunday said there is no possible security threat to the law and order situation during the celebrations of the upcoming Victory Day.
“By the grace of Allah, there is no security threat to the law and order situation of the country on the Victory Day, as the day is not for any particular group or individual, but rather the day belongs to all people of the country,” he said.
The adviser made these remarks while talking to journalists after coming out of a meeting at the conference room of the ministry this afternoon over the overall security measures and the law-order situation ahead of Victory Day.
Mentioning that the overall security measures for the Victory Day celebration with due dignity were discussed during the meeting, he categorically said currently there is no problem regarding the law and order situation.
The home adviser also asked all concerned to take necessary measures to ensure smooth vehicular movement on Victory Day.
He said the colour and shape of the national flag should not be different from one place to another.
To mark the day, all concerned have been requested to conduct meetings maintaining guidelines and standards set by the government, he added.
Senior officials of law enforcement agencies were present in the meeting.
Members of the law enforcement agencies will be deployed both in uniform and plain clothes in every multi-storey building in the vicinity of the parliament building, he said, adding that the Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) unit and bomb disposal unit will remain vigilant round the clock to thwart any unwanted incidents.
Security personnel will set up check posts at different points in Dhaka, including the diplomatic zones, for the Victory Day celebrations. Law enforcement officials will also be on alert at key areas of the capital.
Security checkpoints will be set up and security personnel will patrol to ensure security at Victory Day events, he said.
Security will be tightened at the premises of national parade ground as many foreign dignitaries will join attend events there on the occasion of Victory Day.
