Home Affairs Adviser Lt Gen (retd) Md Jahangir Alam Chowdhury on Wednesday assured that there is no security concern surrounding August 5, despite recent alerts from the Special Branch (SB) of Police.
Speaking to reporters at the Secretariat, the adviser said, “There is no cause for worry. The operation mentioned by the SB is not nationwide—it is being conducted by the Dhaka Metropolitan Police (DMP) as part of routine preventive measures. If Allah wills, everything will proceed peacefully.”
His remarks came a day after the SB issued a notice warning of a potential deterioration in law and order.
Addressing questions about visa policies, Jahangir Alam clarified that on-arrival visas are not being suspended. “We continue issuing on-arrival visas for nationals of countries with which we have agreements. This facility is not available for those without such agreements,” he added.
