Reaffirming the Election Commission’s (EC) commitment to holding a free, fair, neutral, and peaceful election, Chief Election Commissioner (CEC) AMM Nasir Uddin said on Monday, “There is no possibility of the day’s vote being cast at night.”

He made it clear that the EC will not be drawn into any political disputes, emphasizing that all decisions are made collectively by the commission. “No decision is taken unilaterally,” he added.

The CEC made these remarks during a views-exchange meeting with election officials of the Mymensingh region, held at the Mymensingh City Corporation auditorium.
Discussions at the event focused on updating the voter list and preparations for the upcoming 13th National Parliamentary Election.

In response to a question about the swearing-in of Dhaka South City Corporation Mayor Ishraq Hossain, the CEC clarified that the matter falls under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Local Government, not the Election Commission. “We have no role in this,” he said.

The meeting also discussed the ongoing voter list update and preparations for the upcoming general election.

Regional Election Officer Shahinur Islam Pramanik chaired the event, which was attended by additional regional election officers, district and additional district election officers, and upazila election officers from the region.
