Law, Justice and Parliamentary Affairs Adviser Dr. Asif Nazrul has said that there is no possibility of the ban on Awami League’s activities being withdrawn any time soon.
He made the remark while responding to questions from journalists on Wednesday after visiting the Shankar Math Puja Mandap in Barishal city.
He said, “When the activities of a party are banned, the question arises whether it is permanent or temporary. I do not see any possibility that the ban imposed on Awami League’s activities will be lifted.”
Referring to the Chief Adviser’s interview with foreign media, the Law Adviser said that the election will be held in the first half of February. Speaking about the unrest in the hills, he said the government will take action against those who create unrest there.
Earlier in the afternoon, he arrived at the Barishal Circuit House and later visited the Shankar Math near New Market in the city. On this occasion, he met and exchanged greetings with leaders of the Hindu community.
Among those present were Barishal Deputy Commissioner Mohammad Delwar Hossain, Superintendent of Police Md. Sharif Uddin, President of Shankar Math Puja Mandap Committee Kanu Lal Saha, and former General Secretary Tammoj Tapu, among others.
