Businessman and Jatiya Party leader Nasir-U-Mahmud has been taken on police remand, as part of the investigation as to what was behind the Dhaka Boat Club incident between him and actress Pori Moni.
The people are waiting tirelessly to know the fact and what happened at that night and why.
After Pori Moni’s allegation of attempt to rape and killing her, police arrested Nasir U Mahmud and another businessman Tuhin Siddique Omi.
On the other hand, a general diary (GD) was filed against Pori Moni with Gulshan Police Station on Wednesday.
All Community Club Limited (ACCL) of Gulshan filed the GD against the actress for allegedly resorting to vandalism inside the club on June 8 last.
The document of the GD showed that Pori Moni went to the All Community Club before going to Dhaka Boat Club. She had allegedly committed vandalism there. She had also beaten several waiters of a bar there.
This GD against Pori Moni, created new dimension about the whole matter between her and Nasir U Mahmud.
Pori Moni held a press conference on Sunday night where she complained that Nasir and Omi wanted to rape and murder her on June 9 midnight when they went to the Dhaka Boat Club in Birulia, Savar.
Dhaka Boat Club expelled Nasir Mahmud who was the Entertainment and Cultural Affairs Secretary of the club, after his arrest.
After this incident, the name of ‘Dhaka Boat Club’ came into limelight.
People are now showing interest to know about the club. Rubel Aziz, Managing Director of the Partex Group, now the Adviser of the club initiated it as a center for leisure entertainment, sports and physical exercise.
Dhaka Boat Club Limited is situated on the bank of the river Turag at Borokakor area in Birulia near Uttara. It is on the opposite to Uttara 3rd phase and near Birulia Bridge.
In its website, it has been written that the “DBC now has a large land located in one of the most naturally beautiful places in Dhaka. Within this premises we have a plan to include some of the best leisures and sports facilities possible.”
It said also “We plan to have, Boat Doc, Restaurant, Swimming Pool, Gym, Guest House, Club House, Bar, Billiard Room, Tennis Court, Squash Court, Badminton Court and Card Room.” Sources said that the club was planned in 2014, while the construction work of the three storey building started on 2020.
The full-fledged activities of the club were started in February, 2021, club sources confirmed.
There are three categories of membership in the club which is Donor members, Life members and Permanent members.
There are about 21,00 members. About 120 are Donor members, 700 are Life members and over 1300 are Permanent members.
Tk 15 lakh are needed for franchising a donor member, while Tk 12.5 lakh for Life and Tk 10 lakh is needed for Permanent membership.
Meanwhile, the Permanent members have to pay Tk 1000 as monthly fee.
It was stipulated to Tk one lakh for getting membership in the beginning of 2015.
Locals said numbers of rich people start gathering since afternoon in the club regularly.
No one can enter the club without getting membership, but gests of the members can enter there.
