No signs of rape were found in the health examination of a teenage schoolgirl from the Marma community in Khagrachhari. The medical report indicated that all 10 indicators tested for signs of sexual assault were marked as “normal.”
The examination was conducted by a medical team comprising gynecology specialists Dr. Joya Chakma, Dr. Mir Mosharraf Hossain, and Dr. Nahid Akter from Khagrachhari Modern Sadar Hospital. Dr. Joya Chakma, senior consultant (gynecology) and head of the medical team, stated that the examination showed no evidence of rape and that all necessary tests had been conducted.
Khagrachhari Superintendent of Police Arefin Jewel said the report was received on Tuesday (September 30) and confirmed that no evidence of rape had been found. He described the violence in Khagrachhari following the rape allegation as “planned violence” and noted that three lives had been lost, which he said was deeply regrettable.
Following the alleged incident, protests and blockades continued for seven days, including attacks on army and law enforcement personnel. Recently, three hill youths were killed in Guimara during clashes. Additionally, 13 army personnel, including three officers, and three police members, including an officer-in-charge, were injured.
The alleged incident occurred on September 23 around 9:00 pm in Singinala, Khagrachhari, when the schoolgirl was returning home from private tutoring. She was found unconscious in a field by relatives around 11:00 pm and was later admitted to the hospital. Police arrested 19-year-old Shayon Shil in connection with the case.
The allegations triggered widespread protests and unrest in Khagrachhari, escalating into violence. Section 144 was imposed to control the situation, and additional army and BGB forces were deployed. Despite this, tensions remained high, and three people were killed in Guimara while Section 144 was in effect.
Meanwhile, the Khagrachhari district administration has formed a five-member committee to investigate the violence in Guimara. On Tuesday afternoon, District Commissioner ABM Iftikharul Islam Khondaker visited the affected area to assess the situation.
