Chief Adviser’s Press Secretary Shafiqul Alam on Saturday said the current government is highly business-friendly and assured that measures would be taken to increase Bangladesh’s exports to the United States (US).
He made these remarks to the media in front of the State Guest House Jamuna on Saturday evening, where he shared updates regarding the government’s stance on the newly announced US tariff rates.
The press secretary said, “We will take actions that will lead to an increase in exports, not a decrease. I can confidently say that Bangladesh’s exports to the US will grow, not shrink. This decision will be finalised in the upcoming meeting.
“An urgent meeting has been called by the chief adviser to discuss the newly announced tariff rates by the United States. The meeting will focus on our response, how we will address the US administration, and the steps we should take moving forward.”
He further added, “I can say with confidence that the meeting will yield very positive decisions. The current government is highly business-friendly and export-oriented.”
In response to a journalist’s question, the press secretary emphasised, “The United States is a very close friend of Bangladesh. We will be discussing this matter in today’s meeting. After the meeting, you can be assured that some key decisions will be made, and Bangladesh’s exports to the US will definitely increase, not decrease.”
