The Bangladesh Railway Running Staff and Workers Employees Association declared that their strike will go on after a two-hour meeting with railway authorities ended without a resolution.

Railways Secretary Md Fahimul Islam held a meeting with running staff to resolve the crisis on Tuesday afternoon at the VIP room of Dhaka Railway Station. BNP Chairperson’s Special Assistant and labour leader Advocate Shamsur Rahman Shimul Biswas was also present.

The strike, which began at midnight on Monday, stems from demands for pension, gratuity, and running allowance. As a result, train services nationwide have been suspended since Tuesday morning, leaving passengers with advance tickets stranded and facing inconvenience.

Speaking to reporters after the meeting, Bangladesh Railway Running Staff and Workers Union Executive President Md Saidur Rahman said, “We had a long meeting with the railway secretary and director general. However, no decisions were reached, so we decided to leave. The strike will continue until our demands are met.”

The running staff leaders added that while further discussions may take place, the strike will persist for the time being.

The ongoing strike has crippled train operations nationwide, causing major disruptions for passengers and supply chains. With no resolution in sight, uncertainty looms over when services will resume, leaving travelers and authorities in a difficult position.
