Short Film: ‘Nishi’ to premiere at European Film Festival in BD

The short film ‘Nishi’, jointly directed by Golam Rabbani and Zahirul Islam, won the award at the 35th Environmental Media Association (EMA) Awards in the United States last October. This time, the film will be shown in Bangladesh.
The production company, International Academy of Film and Media, said that the Bangladesh premiere of ‘Nishi’ will be held at the German Cultural Centre in Dhaka on December 6 at 3:00pm during the European Film Festival in Dhaka, said a press release.
Regarding Bangladesh premiere, director Golam Rabbani said, “The short film is being shown in different countries of the world. It has already received awards, and it may receive more.
But the joy of being able to show the film to the Bangladeshi audience is different. Many people have personally requested to watch the film. This premiere created that opportunity.”
‘Nishi’ is a film produced in collaboration with the European Union Bangladesh, Green Film School Alliance and UNESCO Dhaka.
The story follows Lalchan, a timber merchant, who wants to marry Nishi, the minor daughter of a tea worker, in exchange for a tubewell to help alleviate the watercrisis.
The final editing, colour and sound of this film was done at famous Lodz Film School in Poland. The cinematography was done by Natalia Pusnik, a former student
of this film school.
