A Joypurhat court on Monday sentenced 19 people to life term imprisonment in a murder case at Panchbibi Upazila.
Additional District and Sessions Judge Md Nurul Islam passed the judgement on Monday afternoon in presence of 19 convicts after prolonged hearing.
All the lifers are fined Tk 50,000 to each, in default, they will have to suffer two years more in prison.
District Judge Court Government Strategist Advocate Nripendranath Mondal confirmed the media.
The case statement says that on November 22 of 2002, the convicts took Abdur Rahman, son of Shamsuddin of village Harenda under Panchbibi Upazila of Joypurhat to one Alam’s home from a faddy field because of enmity.
The convicts tortured him inhumanly with several local lethal weapons.
The victim died on the spot and later his brother Abdul Barek Munshi filed the murder case with local police station.
