This is not flood ravaged scenario rather tide water of sea which submerged the central wholesale hub of the commodities – Chaktai and Khatungonj. The picture was taken on Saturday evening from Chaktai-Khatungonj area. The high tide water of the Bay severely affecting the main business hub of the Port City for the last few days . Ground floors of all the commodity godowns submerged caused huge losses of the traders which indirectly will effect the consumers of the essential commodities. The prices of essential commodities like rice, chili, spices, onions, garlics, zingers, turmeric etc will go up beyond the purchasing capacity of the common people . Moreover, the Eid-ul Azha is in the doorsteps and the prices of these essentials will go up without any excuse . These areas go under knee to waist deep water. All the inter-district bound transport trucks remain stranded on road due to inundation. CDA, CCC are utmost trying to mitigate the waterlogging problems of the areas and huge budget already passed by the higher authority and the Army Engineering Corp has been entrusted with the works of waterlogging project.
