Dhaka stocks slide for second day Business Report Equities on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) fell for the second consecutive session on Tuesday, while turnover also dropped from the previous session. According to DSE data, the bourse’s benchmark DSEX dropped 89.33 points, or 1.58 percent, to finish at 5,538.25. The other indices performed negatively too, as the Shariah-based DSES decreased 1.73 percent to 1,203.98, while the blue-chip DS30 declined 1.78 percent to 2,152.82. Turnover, an important gauge of investor activity, stood at Tk 1,177.26 crore, down from Tk 1,400.84 crore in the previous session. Block trades, high-volume transactions involving a large number of securities, accounted for a notable share, with transactions recorded across several scrips and overall trade at Tk 22.98 crore. Market breadth was negative, with 68 issues advancing against 305 losers, while 28 remained unchanged. A-category stocks saw more losers than winners, while the B-category performed similarly. By segment, mutual funds were negative, with six issues advancing and 21 declining; corporate bonds saw just two issues advance and one decline; and the government bond market saw one issue advance and three issues decline.
