Committees to be reformed for FFs’ allowances

The Ministry of Liberation War Affairs has directed the urgent reconstitution of relevant committees at upazila and metropolitan levels to ensure the smooth and transparent distribution of honorarium allowances to freedom fighters.

The directive was issued in a letter from the ministry’s Welfare Wing-2 on November 1.
The concerned deputy commissioners (DCs) and upazila nirbahi officers (UNOs) have been asked to take the necessary steps on a priority basis.

The letter said reconstituting field-level committees under different branches of the ministry had become necessary in line with directives from the Prime Minister’s Office.

It also referred to clause 6 of the Freedom Fighters Honorarium Allowance Distribution Order, 2020, which provides for the formation of committees at upazila and metropolitan levels.

The committees are responsible for verifying applications submitted by freedom fighters or their beneficiaries to receive honorarium allowances.

The ministry said the committees must be reconstituted urgently in accordance with the order and the relevant directives.

As a result, the concerned DCs and UNOs have been requested to take the required action to complete the process.
