1-month retake window for failures
Students who failed in one or two subjects in this year’s Higher Secondary Certificate (HSC) and equivalent examinations will get an opportunity to retake only the failed papers within a month, easing the long wait under the existing examination system.
A total of 422,905 candidates failed in one or two subjects this year and will be eligible for the facility.
Education Minister A N M Ehsanul Hoque Milon announced the decision at a briefing following the inauguration of the HSC and equivalent examination results at the Ministry of Education at the Secretariat on Saturday.
Prime Minister’s Adviser Mahdi Amin was also present at the event.
Under the existing system for public examinations such as the SSC and HSC, candidates who fail in one or more subjects have to wait until the following year to sit for the examinations again.
They can choose to retake only the failed subjects or appear in all subjects once more
The new arrangement is expected to spare candidates who fail in just one or two subjects from waiting an entire year, helping them avoid academic delays and the psychological pressure associated with the prolonged wait.
