IUB launches 2nd phase of innovation to impact award

Twenty-four faculty and student teams have advanced to the incubation phase of Independent University, Bangladesh’s (IUB) Innovation to Impact Award (i2i), as the university launched the programme’s second phase on Saturday.

The event, titled “Innovation to Impact Award – Phase II: The Start of Incubation Journey”, was organised by the university’s Center of Innovation and Incubation (IUB360) on October 31, 2026.

The programme introduced the selected teams and their 12 industry mentors. Each mentor has been assigned two teams, bringing professional experience from different industries, businesses and corporate sectors.

Over the next eight months, the teams will work with their mentors to develop their projects and prototypes into market-ready solutions. They will receive mentorship, strategic guidance, industry connections and institutional support throughout the incubation period.

IUB Board of Trustees Chairman Didar A Husain, Trustee Ivy Huq Russell, Vice-Chancellor Professor M Tamim and Pro-Vice-Chancellor Professor Dr Daniel W Lund spoke at the event. Deans, faculty members and administrative officials also attended.

Initiated by the IUB Board of Trustees, the programme is being implemented by IUB360 under the leadership of its Director, Dr Saadia Binte Alam.

The selected teams will eventually compete for a prize pool of Tk 10 lakh at the Shark Tank stage next year.
