102 lost mobile phones recovered in Muktagachha

The Cyber Crime Cell of the 2nd Armed Police Battalion (APBn) in Muktagachha, Mymensingh has recovered 102 lost mobile phones from different parts of the country and returned them to their rightful owners.

The recovered phones have an estimated market value of Tk 3.06 million.The mobile phones were handed over to their owners on Thursday (September 24) in the presence of Additional DIG Md Al Mamun, Commanding Officer of the 2nd APBn.According to APBn sources, the Cyber Crime Cell conducted recovery operations based on general diaries (GDs) filed at various police stations across the country.

Copies of the GDs were collected from victims through Facebook, Messenger, WhatsApp, email and other communication channels.With advanced technological support from the LIC and CIA branches of APBn Headquarters, the Cyber Crime Cell traced mobile phone users and analysed call detail records (CDRs) to recover the devices from different parts of the country.

The recovery operations were carried out under the overall guidance and supervision of Additional DIG Md Al Mamun, Commanding Officer of the 2nd APBn.

The battalion’s Deputy Commanding Officer (Superintendent of Police), Additional Superintendent of Police, Assistant Superintendent of Police, police inspectors, officials from the Operations and Intelligence branches, the Cyber Crime Cell in-charge and other relevant officers attended the handover ceremony.
