SAM unit gets medical equipment

Necessary logistics and medical equipment have been handed over to the Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) unit at Ramgarh Upazila Health Complex.

The handover ceremony was held at the Upazila Health Complex on Thursday, September 24.
Upazila Nirbahi Officer (UNO) Kazi Shamim attended the ceremony as the chief guest, while Dr ABM Mozammel Haque, Upazila Health and Family Planning Officer, was present as the special guest.

Others in attendance included Dr Md Mahmudul Hasan, Resident Medical Officer of the Health Complex; Mohammad Hafiz Uddin, Upazila Family Planning Officer; Nizam Uddin Lavlu, President of Ramgarh Press Club; Rimi Chakma, Khagrachhari Representative and Senior Officer (Nutrition) of Helen Keller.

International; Binodon Tripura, Project Coordinator of Zabarang Kalyan Samity; and Sahlapru Marma, Upazila Coordinator, and Jonaki Tripura, Procurement and Logistics Officer, of the same organisation.

Speaking at the event, Chief Guest UNO Kazi Shamim extended his sincere thanks to Helen Keller International and Zabarang Kalyan Samity for providing the necessary equipment and materials to treat and manage children suffering from severe acute malnutrition in Ramgarh.

He said the assistance would play a vital role in improving child health in the upazila and strengthening the healthcare system’s capacity to address malnutrition-related risks.

He urged the health complex authorities to ensure the proper use, regular maintenance and safe storage of the handed-over equipment.

Following the ceremony, UNO Kazi Shamim visited the newly established SAM unit at the health complex and inquired about the activities being undertaken for the medical treatment and nutritional management of the children there.
