Winning in the coin-session, South Africa decided to bat first and scored a modest 162 in 46 overs.
South Africa lost their wickets in regular intervals. The Proteas failed to build any notable partnership. They failed to face tight and controlled bowling attack of Bangladesh.
Spinner Nasir Hossain, new sensation pacer Mustafizur Rahman, promising pacer Rubel Hossain wrapped up South Africa innings with the help of country’s best pacer Mashrafe Bin Mortaza and off spinner Mahmudullah Riyad.
Nasir Hossain and Mustafizur Rahman grabbed three wickets each at the cost of 26 and 38 runs respectively while Rubel Hossain bagged a pair of wickets instead of 34 runs.
Mahmudullah Riyad and Mashrafe Bin Mortaza took one wicket each for 13 and 17 runs respectively.
Mustafizur Rahman got early success with cherry as opener Quinton de Kock (2) was caught at the back ward point by Sabbir Rahman of Mustafizur Rahman when South Africa’s score was 16 for the loss of one wicket.
Then Rubel Hossain bowled out Hashim Amla (22) when South Africa’s total was 45 for the loss of two wickets.
Second-down Rilee Rossouw (4) was cleanly bowled out by Nasir Hossain when the tourists’ score was 59 for the loss of three wickets.
Then David Miller (9) was caught at the short mid-wicket by Mashrafe Bin Mortaza off Mahmudullah Riyad when the visitors’ total was 74 for the loss of four wickets.
Faf du Plessis and Farhaan Bahardien of South Africa made a respectable score.
Plessis notched up a fine 41 from 64 balls with three fours. He was caught at the long-on by Sounya Sarkar off Nasir Hossain when South Africa’s score was 93 for the loss of five wickets. Behardien scored a polished 36 off 44 balls including two fours and a six.
JP Duminy (13) was caught at the short cover by Sabbir Rahman off Mustafizur Rahman when the African’s total was 100 for the loss of six wickets.
After dismissal of JP Duminy, Chris Morris (12) was trapped leg before wicket by Nasir Hossain when the Proteas’ score was 116 for the loss of seven wickets.
Number-9 batsman Kagiso Rabada (10) was bowled out by Mustafizur Rahman when South Africa’s total was 138 for the loss of eight wickets.
Then Kyle Abbott (5) was trapped leg before wicket by Nasir Hossain when the visitors’ score was 160 for the loss of nine wickets.
After removal of Abbott, Behardien was caught at the deep mid-wicket by Nasir Hossain off Mashrafe Bin Mortaza when the tourists’ innings was concluded.
