‘CCC developing 41 playgrounds across Ctg’

Chattogram City Corporation (CCC) Mayor Dr. Shahadat Hossain on Saturday said work is underway to develop 41 playgrounds across the city’s 41 wards, while dismissing allegations of irregularities in the renovation of the Government Haji Muhammad Mohsin College playground.

Speaking during an on-site inspection of the renovation and development work at the college playground, the mayor said there is no alternative to sports and reiterated his commitment to creating adequate recreational facilities for residents across the city.

“I promised to develop playgrounds in all 41 wards after becoming mayor. So far, 11 playgrounds have already been completed, while the Jamboree Playground will be inaugurated soon. Development Project Proposals (DPPs) are also being prepared for several more playgrounds,” he said.

During the inspection, Dr. Shahadat warned against the spread of false, misleading and fabricated information on social media regarding the Mohsin College playground project.

The mayor visited the site following allegations circulated on Facebook claiming that bamboo had been used instead of steel reinforcement bars (rods) and that substandard materials were being used in the Tk 4.34 crore project.
