Minister seeks public support to ensure quality road construction
State Minister for Power, Energy and Mineral Resources Aninda Islam Amit has urged local residents to cooperate with contractors and help ensure the quality of construction work on a four-kilometre section of Rajganj GC Road in Jashore.
He made the call while laying the foundation stone for the road development project at a programme in Chanchra under Jashore Sadar upazila on Friday.
The section, beginning from Chanchra RHD, had remained in poor condition for a long time.
Speaking at the event, the minister said Prime Minister Tarique Rahman was working to fulfil every promise made to the people before the election. He also called on party leaders, activists and residents to work together to maintain peace and order and eliminate drugs and terrorism from their respective areas.
The Local Government Engineering Department, Jashore, is implementing the project under the Rural Road Repair and Preservation Project at an estimated cost of Tk 3.74 crore. M/s Sardar International has been appointed to carry out the construction work.
Deputy Director of the Local Government Department in Jashore Rafiqul Hasan, LGED Executive Engineer Ahmed Mahbubur Rahman and Jashore Sadar Upazila Nirbahi Officer Md Shahriar Haque attended the programme.
Also present were District BNP President Advocate Syed Saberul Haque Sabu, General Secretary and District Council Administrator Delwar Hossain Khokon, former vice-president Golam Reza Dulu and former publicity secretary Advocate Haji Anisur Rahman Mukul.
Jashore Sadar Upazila BNP Senior Vice-President Professor Abdar Hossain Khan, General Secretary Anjurul Haque Khokon and organising secretaries Abdur Razzak and Ashrafuzzaman Mithu also attended.
LGED officials, leaders and activists of the district Jubo Dal and Chhatra Dal, and local dignitaries were also present.
The road-widening project is expected to directly benefit residents of Bhaturia, Chanchra Madhyapara, Chanchra Mominpara, Daripara, Kalabaga, parts of Rupdia and Rajganj in Manirampur upazila.
