Public co-op vital to curb crime: Speakers
Law enforcement agencies alone cannot effectively combat crime without active public participation and the sharing of credible information, speakers said at a town hall meeting in Narayanganj on Wednesday.
The meeting, organised by RAB-11, CPC-1, Narayanganj, under the directives of the RAB Forces Headquarters in Kurmitola, Dhaka, was held at the District Shilpakala Academy auditorium to raise awareness about preventing drug abuse, terrorism, extortion, juvenile gangs and cybercrime, while strengthening cooperation between law enforcement agencies and the public.
Public representatives, teachers, parents and students attended the event, where participants exchanged views and discussed a range of public safety issues.
At the outset of the programme, Additional Superintendent of Police Md. Muhit Kabir, Company Commander of RAB-11, CPC-1, highlighted the devastating effects of drug abuse, RAB’s ongoing anti-drug operations, measures to combat cybercrime, coordinated efforts to suppress juvenile gangs, and the force’s role in maintaining law and order.
Speakers emphasised that preventing drug abuse, theft, robbery, juvenile gang activity, cybercrime and other social problems requires a collective effort involving law enforcement agencies, educational institutions, parents and the wider community.
They urged citizens to support law enforcement by providing accurate and timely information and stressed the importance of public awareness, social responsibility and mutual cooperation in ensuring public safety.
In the closing session, speakers praised RAB-11, CPC-1 for its public welfare initiatives, humanitarian activities and operations aimed at maintaining law and order. The meeting concluded in a cordial and constructive atmosphere.
