South Point School shine in chess event of Notun Kuri Sports 2026

Students of South Point School & College, Malibagh achieved remarkable success at the Notun Kuri Sports 2026 National-Level Chess Competition.

The competition was held at the Bangladesh Chess Federation Hall Room, National Sports Council, Dhaka, which was concluded on Sunday.

In the girls’ category, Warsia Khusbu (Grade-9) became the unbeaten champion with a perfect score of 7 points by winning all seven rounds.

Sidratul Muntaha Nafi (Grade-8) secured the runner-up position in the girls’ category with 5.5 points, while Muhtady Tajwar Nashid (Grade-6) became runner-up in the boys’ category with 6 points.

The competition witnessed participation from thousands of young chess players across the country through Thana, District, and Divisional levels.

At the prize-giving ceremony, Mohammad Liaquat Ali, Joint-Secretary of the Ministry of Youth and Sports of Bangladesh, distributed prizes among the winners.

FIDE Masters Abu Sufian Shakil and Noshin Anjum attended as Special Guests.

Bangladesh’s first Grandmaster Niaz Murshed congratulated the young players and encouraged them with valuable words about dedication and hard work.

International Arbiter Mr. Harun Or Rashid conducted the chess competition where Mohammad Shamim and Saiful Islam were his assistants.

Principal Colonel Md. Shamsul Alam, PSC (Retd.), congratulated the successful students and expressed hope that South Point students will continue to achieve excellence at national and international levels.
