A true patriot can never be corrupt
Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Afroza Khanam Rita on Sunday said genuine patriotism and corruption cannot coexist.
“A true patriot can never be corrupt. No meaningful work can be accomplished without love for the country,” she said.
The minister made the remarks while addressing an orientation programme for first-year undergraduate students and a prize-giving ceremony for annual literary and cultural competitions at Government Debendra College in Manikganj.
Rita said former president Ziaur Rahman had taught people to love the country, while former prime minister Khaleda Zia had inspired them to stand against injustice.
She added that Prime Minister Tarique Rahman was providing guidance for building a social, humane and people-friendly state committed to public welfare.
The minister urged students to
embrace patriotism, honesty and moral values and prepare themselves to serve the country and its people.
“There can be no compromise with injustice,” she said.
Government Debendra College Principal Muhammad Mahfil Khan chaired the programme.
Manikganj Deputy Commissioner Najmun Ara Sultana, Superintendent of Police Mohammad Sarwar Alam and District Council Administrator Advocate Jamilur Rashid Khan attended as special guests.
Teachers, students, guardians and prominent residents of the district were also present.
