Original song competition on the July Uprising

Music played an important role during the July 2024 uprising. Protest songs composed by various artists gave life to the movement.

This time, the Bangladesh Shilpakala Academy (BSA) has organised an original song competition on the July mass uprising.

It is sponsored by the Ministry of Cultural Affairs, said a press release.

Titled ‘Your Songs Will Awaken July’, the event invites audio and video submissions of completely new and original songs from lyricists, composers and artistes.

The rules and conditions of participation state that the song must be centered on the July 2024 mass uprising, the sacrifice of the martyrs, the heroism of the injured, and the desire for a new Bangladesh.

The lyrics and melody of the song must be completely original. Songs previously published in any medium or competition will not be accepted.

A complete video/audio recording of the song with clear audio must be sent to the BSA’s email. The deadline for sending songs is July 25, 11:59pm. There will be monetary awards, crests, and certificates for the top 10 selected songs.
