Prime Bank Investment, Equiline Finance ink deal
Prime Bank Investment PLC and Abu Dhabi-based Equiline Finance have signed a memorandum of understanding to advance cross-border cooperation on sustainable project financing in Bangladesh.
The agreement was signed on Monday by Salah Al Nasser, Chief Executive Officer of Equiline Finance and Chairman of Faminas Investment Group, and Syed M Omar Tayub, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Prime Bank Investment PLC, in the presence of senior representatives from both organisations, according to a press release.
Prime Bank Investment is a wholly owned subsidiary of Prime Bank PLC and provides investment banking services.
The partnership follows Equiline Finance’s announcement of an initial investment interest of more than $2 billion in government-backed infrastructure and development projects in Bangladesh.
The potential investments span energy, transport, healthcare, ports and logistics, agriculture and agro-processing, waste and water management, tourism, digital infrastructure and other priority sectors.
Under the partnership, Prime Bank Investment is expected to serve as Equiline Finance’s local partner, supporting project bankability and financial structuring while facilitating capital-market and advisory services for suitable projects.
“Bangladesh continues to attract serious international capital for infrastructure, energy transition and sustainable development,” said Syed M Omar Tayub, Managing Director and Chief Executive Officer of Prime Bank Investment PLC.
“This memorandum of understanding positions Prime Bank Investment as a trusted local partner to Equiline Finance, bridging global financing capabilities with domestic market knowledge, regulatory reach and investment banking execution.
“Our focus is to help convert strategic interest into bankable, well-structured opportunities that can mobilise long-term capital for impact-driven projects,” he added.
“Bangladesh offers strong fundamentals and a clear development agenda,” said Salah Al Nasser, Chief Executive Officer of Equiline Finance.
“Partnering with Prime Bank Investment strengthens our local interface for project origination, structuring and market execution as we explore high-impact investments across priority sectors.
“We see this cooperation as an important step towards building a durable platform for sustainable and structured finance in Bangladesh,” he added.
Prime Bank Investment has 16 years of investment banking experience in Bangladesh, with services spanning debt and equity capital markets, portfolio management, trustee services and corporate advisory. It has also executed capital-market transactions for leading financial institutions and companies.
Equiline Finance connects governments, developers and investors with long-term sustainable financing. Its services include structured project and export finance, impact and sustainable investment solutions, capital structuring, risk solutions, bankability advisory, mergers and acquisitions, and institutional liaison.
The partnership is expected to strengthen Bangladesh’s access to capital from the UAE and the wider region, improve the bankability of priority development projects and create a more structured pathway for foreign investment in the country’s capital markets and infrastructure.
