Govt urges citizens in Kuwait to comply with local laws

Ministry of Foreign Affairs has urged all Bangladeshi nationals living in Kuwait to strictly comply with the country’s laws, regulations and instructions issued by the relevant authorities following the evacuation of residents from several unsafe buildings.

In a statement issued on Sunday, the ministry said it had taken note of the Kuwaiti government’s decision to evacuate expatriates, including Bangladeshi citizens, from a number of high-risk residential buildings in the Hasabiya and Abbasiya areas due to safety concerns.

According to the ministry, the Bangladesh Embassy in Kuwait has confirmed that the Kuwaiti authorities relocated residents from the affected buildings to temporary accommodation at Khadija Bint Jaber School in Hasabiya in an effort to prevent any potential accidents.

The statement said the Ambassador of Bangladesh and embassy officials have visited the temporary shelter on several occasions to check on the welfare of Bangladeshi nationals and provide them with the necessary advice and assistance.

The embassy has also reported that the Kuwaiti government has ensured essential facilities at the shelter, including food, safe drinking water and air-conditioned accommodation for those affected.

Meanwhile, the Bangladesh Embassy is maintaining constant communication with the relevant senior Kuwaiti authorities to safeguard the interests of the evacuated Bangladeshi citizens and to facilitate any necessary support.

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has advised affected Bangladeshis to contact the Bangladesh Embassy in Kuwait for assistance.

It noted that the embassy has already issued a separate announcement containing emergency contact numbers for those requiring help.

The ministry also reiterated its appeal to all Bangladeshi nationals residing in Kuwait to observe the country’s laws, regulations and directives issued by the competent authorities at all times.
