N’ganj govt hospitals to strengthen patient services

Deputy Commissioner Md Rayhan Kabir stressed the importance of ensuring that patients receive treatment in a clean, safe, and hygienic setting at a meeting on Saturday.

Joint meetings of the management committees of Narayanganj’s two major government hospitals were held on Saturday to discuss measures aimed at improving healthcare services, maintaining cleanliness, modernising infrastructure, and ensuring a broker-free environment for patients.

Deputy Commissioner Md Rayhan Kabir said that the true quality of a hospital is reflected in its services and environment.

He also emphasised the need to provide quality meals for patients and called for daily monitoring of waste management, toilets, and ward cleanliness.

The meetings took place separately at the conference rooms of the 300-Bed Khanpur Government Hospital and Narayanganj Victoria General Hospital, with Narayanganj-5 Member of Parliament Advocate Abul Kalam presiding over both sessions.

The discussions focused on overall hospital management, emergency medical services, medicine supply, shortages of doctors and healthcare staff, sanitation, and patient care.

Participants also adopted several key decisions, including addressing the shortage of medical personnel, reducing overcrowding in outpatient departments, simplifying the ticket payment process, and keeping hospital premises free from middlemen and unauthorized brokers.

Among those present were Narayanganj Deputy Commissioner Md. Rayhan Kabir, Narayanganj City Corporation Administrator and Convener of Narayanganj Metropolitan BNP Advocate Sakhawat Hossain Khan, Civil Surgeon Dr. Mashiur Rahman, Superintendent of Police Md. Mizanur Rahman Munshi, Metropolitan BNP Member Secretary Advocate Md. Abu Al Yusuf Khan Tipu, and senior officials from both hospitals.

Deputy Commissioner Md Rayhan Kabir assured that the district administration would extend full support in ensuring hospital security as well as uninterrupted water and electricity supplies.

He further emphasized the need to eliminate middlemen from hospital services and urged all stakeholders to work together to make these publicly funded institutions more patient-friendly.

In his remarks, MP Advocate Abul Kalam said that the two government hospitals are trusted healthcare centers for hundreds of thousands of people in Narayanganj.

He said the primary objective is to ensure that every patient receives prompt and quality medical treatment.

He also stressed the importance of maintaining the regular presence of doctors and nurses, ensuring an adequate supply of medicines in emergency departments, and modernizing hospital infrastructure through both government support and community participation.

Following the meetings, the chairperson and other guests visited various wards of both hospitals.

They spoke with admitted patients and provided necessary guidance to doctors and healthcare workers on duty.
