Week-long tree fair begins in Jashore

Keeping this theme in mind, Bangladesh is the first country to beautify the country with tree plantation – a week-long tree plantation drive and tree fair-2026 has begun in Jashore.

The fair was inaugurated in a colorful atmosphere on Saturday morning at the Jessore Town Hall Maidan jointly organised by the District Administration and the Social Forest Department, Jashore.

Jashore Deputy Commissioner Ashek Hasan officially declared the opening of the fair by cutting the ribbon and releasing colorful balloons.

The inaugural ceremony was attended by Jashore Police Super Syed Rafiqul Islam, District Council Administrator and District BNP General Secretary Delwar Hossain Khokon, District BNP President Advocate Saberul Haque Sabu.

heads of various government departments, public representatives, political figures, environmentalists, various officials of Jashore’s Social Forest Department, teachers and students, and a large number of people from different classes and professions.

In his inaugural speech, Deputy Commissioner Ashek Hasan said that in this time of climate change, tree plantation is not just a programme, it is a responsibility to build a safe world for future generations.

A tree gives us oxygen, maintains the balance of the environment, preserves biodiversity, and plays an important role in reducing the risk of natural disasters.

Therefore, every citizen should take responsibility for its care by planting at least one tree. He also said that it is not enough to just plant trees, but to take care of each tree like a child.

A sapling of today will become a huge tree of tomorrow and will benefit people and nature. In addition to government initiatives, the participation of people from all walks of life is very important to increase greening.
