Shiba Sanu, Joy Chowdhury win BFAA

Shiba Sanu and Joy Chowdhury have been elected President and General Secretary, respectively, of the Bangladesh Film Artists’ Association for the 2026-28 term.

Shiba Sanu secured victory in the presidential race with 243 votes, defeating actor and producer Fighter Arman, who received 143 votes.

Meanwhile, Joy Chowdhury was elected General Secretary with 237 votes, while his opponent, Rumana Islam Mukti, received 179 votes.

The Election Management Committee officially announced the results at the FDC early Saturday.

According to a statement signed by the committee members, 480 of the association’s 573 registered voters cast their ballots. Of those, 416 ballots were declared valid, while 64 were rejected.

D.A. Tayeb and Ilias Cobra were elected to the two Vice President posts. D.A. Tayeb received the highest number of votes with 260, while Ilias Cobra secured 216 votes. Their opponents, actress Rozina and Nuton, received 152 and 204 votes, respectively.

Subrata was elected Assistant General Secretary with 266 votes, defeating Rina Khan, who received 150 votes.

Sony Rahman won the Organizing Secretary post with 263 votes, while his opponent Chunn received 183 votes. M.A. Parvez Chowdhury Abir was elected International Affairs Secretary with 272 votes, defeating Poly, who received 144 votes.

Jacky Alamgir was elected Office and Publicity Secretary with 221 votes, while his opponent Russell Mia received 195 votes.

Maruf Akib won the Cultural and Sports Secretary post with 226 votes, defeating Yusuf Khan, who received 72 votes.

Kamruzzaman Komol was elected Treasurer with 221 votes. His closest rival, Jadu Azad, secured 197 votes.

The 11 elected Executive Committee members are film actor Kayes Arju, Aliraj, Nasrin, Jesmin Akter, Sushanta, Shipon Mitra, Shamim Khan (Chikon Ali), Raka, Shirin Shila, Kabila, and Farhad. Among them, Kayes Arju received the highest number of votes, 324, becoming the top-elected Executive Committee member.
